Butterfly
By little chilli

Your face flutters just out of grasp, dancing away out of my reach.
Your memory spins and twists away like the butterfly you were.
Drifting away from my clutching hands, always too far,
Never too near; leading me on in a never-ending dance.
The more I snatch at your fading memory, the further
Away you slip. I catch enticing flashes of your face,
The touch of your sweeping lashes, the curl of your rose-bud lips.
I try so desperately to catch the memory of your face. But away
You fly. The way you always dreamt of. And now I wait for you.
Sit still with a patience I find it hard to gather. Wait as you
Come ever closer. Drift ever nearer. Believe me to sleep
As I lie in wait. I free my mind. Think of nothing
And you come. For a moment I see you. Remember the face I loved
So dearly. Hold your memory in my mind. Feast on the flashes of
Colour from your heaving wings. For one moment you are here again.
Then you are gone. Just a memory once more.
