One Winter Evening

The setting sun's glow was not harsh. It was his words that had pinched and punched her hard. There were no blues or blood but a smudge of pain that rolled down to her heart.
He sat there on the balcony, no traces of regret cover on his face. Instead he rocked his legs; maybe anxiety was torturing him.
Through the open bedroom window she set her gaze at the setting sun. Her swollen eyes matched the colour of the fading light of the western sky. Her sobs had died and the tears had drained down the cheeks. What was left behind was a sore mind.
In all these years he had never behaved like one from the wild. The sudden change upset her. So many summers, springs and winters had covered their lives. Each season enhanced their relationship. At this juncture she had not expected this from him.
For once her thoughts began to traverse through the path that she had never thought about. "Is he having an affair with …" she did not have the guts to let her thoughts march forward.
She gathered herself and moved close to him. Her warm hug balanced the situation with ease.
