Letter to The Human Race I

Dear Humans,
I am sick of being thought of as a heartless killer. Am I to be
constantly blamed for the evolution of my body? I did not choose this
physique, much as you did not choose yours and yet, I am continually
persecuted and envisioned as being a ruthless beast and a vile
killer.
I have parents, just as you have. I give rise to young, much as you do
and I raise them with loving affection, teaching them the ways of my
kin.
I must eat; and I must provide food for my young but this is done with
no malice. It is not I who kills for no reason, but merely in
self-defence or the need to feed. My kind does not kill for revenge, or
for jealousy. We do not pass judgement on each other and have
introduced no death penalty. We merely live, and depend entirely on our
surroundings to do so. Throughout our history, a history so long that
your kind could not even imagine a comparison, we have never pronounced
others beliefs to be heretical. We have never burnt our brethren alive
for their actions, nor have we condemned them to a life of
imprisonment. We accept all things for what they are.
It is not easy, being the king of the jungle, so to speak. We have no
predators that can match our might, but can that be our fault? Being
feared by so many, is not an easy role to play, and certainly one that
we did not ask for or have any say in the plan.
Do not think of me as a killer - for I merely lived my life as I saw
fit. Roaming the land in search of food, in order to reproduce and
sustain the life of my species. Do not condemn me for my strength, or
for my size - I had no choice in the way evolution created me. I am
just your average, run of the mill tyranasaurus-rex, trying to live
each day as best I can. Think of me fondly, for in the millions of
years that my species successfully survived, I did not contribute to
the destruction of the earth. I shall leave that up to you, my friends,
you seem to be rather good at it.
Yours faithfully
T-Rex
