Trying to climb that mountain of hope
But I keep on slipping back down
And each time I reach a peak
An avalanche bowls me to the ground
The rock face crumbles in my trembling fingers
And my legs flail for a hold
But my yearning for the rainbow at the summit spurs me on
I know I'll reach my crock of gold.
They can knock me down, throw rocks at me
Do their best to throw me off track
They can try to divert me, put dogs on my trail
I'll keep going and never look back
I'll reach the top, no matter the cost
There isn't a price I won't pay
And once I'm there, I'll build mountains of my own
And climb a new one every day
