A line from Thomas Hardy

When the furtive Hedgehog travels slowly accross the grass,
I will be there.
Look for me as the evening mists descend and flow,
I will be waiting.
In the shadows at the edge of night where light meets dark, look for me
in the grey.
I am the nightime garden, the shuffling of mice under leaves, and the
bark of foxes,
the gentle stir of breeze that waves the fringes on your easychair and
parasol.
Keep me in mind. I am the lonely scent of roses and the fragrance of
smoke from long extinguished fires.
When you close your eyes in that midnight garden, I am always
there.
Seek me in the depths of memory and I will come to you,
Hidden in dreams, awake or sleeping,
soothe your shattered nerves,
for peace is always mine to give.
