Storms and Teacups

I thought that it would be
a storm in a teacup
but was not expecting
that she'd lose her head.
She was sulking, I know
but also intent on sewing
a button on my shirt
with needle and thread.
Then all hell broke loose
and things got out of hand;
she started to throw crockery
that were within her reach.
The storm that blew outside
was a breeze in comparison.
The invectives were profuse,
her rage went on and on.
The reason she got mad
- I bet my bottom dollar -
is that she discovered
lipstick on the collar.
