Chapter 1
Did you ever feel like your life is a soap opera? Because, for the past few weeks my life has been mayhem, and that's only the start of it. You see. Being the middle child (near enough) in my family is bad enough, most of the responsibility falls to me, whilst I am still being treated like a child, but the last few weeks should have shown that I'm not a child any more, hopefully. Why don't I start back, in September, when it all started. (and I met the love of my life)
So here's the picture, I'm running down a hill, throwing my arms up to Brad Pitt, he is running towards me doing the same, we are inches away from hugging each other, then my alarm goes off for school. Great. I scramble out of bed, fall onto the floor and reach out for the clothes I was going to wear for todays boring classes. I had home room for the first two lessons on the day. I hoped that I would have good lessons the rest of the day. At least if I had maths and physics I could look at the most amazing guy on the planet, Robbie Wilson. My boyfriend. He is the caption of the football team, and the basketball team, and the baseball team, in fact, he is the caption of most of the sports teams in our school, and about two years ago, he asked me out. Since then I had become more popular than any of my peers, and that I was not complaining about. Anyway back to the bright, sunny Monday morning. I threw some combats on, a sleeveless top and spent the next ten minutes trying to get my converses onto my feet, I then grabbed my NY cap, my bag and hurried out my room. I shot down my hall, and down the stairs, then pasted the kitchen, bad idea.
'And where do you think that your going without breakfast young lady?' a plain voice, with no feeling in it which could only belong to my mom, came from the kitchen. I slowly slithered back into the kitchen and grabbed a cereal bar.
'Satisfied?' I asked her sarcastically,
'not really but it will have to do I suppose since getting you to eat something healthy wouldn't be an option' she was right as well, everyone had tried, even Rob, but it was hopeless, I just wouldn't eat healthily, and it wasn't like I was fat or anything, I'm no twig either, but my parents think that all I eat is junk food, which is true, but considering my moms career, a dietician, It wasn't exactly fair, I mean everyone else's parents let them eat junk, my mom just wont leave me alone about it.
I opened the door, to find my ride waiting for me, my brand new BMW. It was for my birthday, even though my birthday wasn't for another 2 weeks, my dad decided to give it me at the start of term, instead of trusting me in Robs car. My family didn't really approve of Rob, they thought that I should try and concentrate on my studies instead of messing around with boys, but honestly when the caption of the football team asks you out, you don't say no, especially when your considered a social outcast.
I took my time unlocking the car, making sure not a scratch was on it. I shoved my bad on the passenger seat, then jumped into the drivers seat and turned on the engine.
Next thing I knew I was cruising down the road, listening to my favourite singer on the radio, Justin Timberlake, and checking out all the new freshmen we had to deal with. I was now a junior, along with all of my mates, Vicky, Liz, Markus, David and of course Rob, but he pretty much only knew me in our little group, you see, when I started going with him, I didn't forget my other mates, so now I spend lunch with them, and all other time with him and the rest of the popular people. Its strange, being with two crowds, but I got used to it. I parked in my favourite space, underneath the trees in the corner, and looked around.
All the freshmen could already be split into two groups, the loud and the shy, some of them looked lost, whilst others could have pasted for a sophomores. I spotted some more juniors, the Dopes as we call them, because all they are known for is there addiction for drugs, even the teachers knew, but they didn't do anything about it. I could see some freshmen hanging round them, already fitting in, then across the yard from them stood the geeks. They too hard some new recruits, as I kept looking around, and spotting all the new groups, I spotted Vicky and Liz pulling up in Vicky's little ford, she parked a couple of spaces away from me, then they gracefully got out, slammed the doors and strolled over as if they ruled the school. My mates were like that, they stood up for themselves, mostly against my other crowd, the cheerleaders and jocks.
'Is it me or are the freshmen getting smaller every year ?', asked Vicky, looking around at all the new kids in our school,
'Its you, they seem to be getting taller to me.' Liz answered,
'that's only because your small yourself, everything seems taller from your point of view.' Vicky joked, we always joke about Liz's height, she was 16 and only 5 foot. We were towering above her, but she didn't mind, she normally joined in with the joking.
'that's a good point,' she came back with, we all broke up with laughter.
'Anything we would find funny?' came a familiar voice,
'hey you guys, how was your summer?' I asked the boys, David and Markus were jogging over to us, after pulling up in a broken down car that David's Dad owned, then pasted on to him.
'it was brilliant, picked up some chicks, whoa were they fine.' he ducked as Vicky, Liz and I all came at him with our books,
'told you they would do that.' Markus said, finding it hard to hide his smile. We started to walk over to the main doors, Markus and I taking the lead, talking about our summer, with the others behind still trying to hurt David, we kept hearing the odd word that told us they were successful in hurting him.
We got inside the corridor, and broke off, Vicky, Markus and I went one way and the others the opposite, they were in home room together, as were we.
We found our usual spot to wait till the teacher came, and waited still talking about our summer. Apparently Markus had moved house again, into a newer modern house closer to school, instead of being an hours drive away in the country were he used to live. His sisters were coming to this school now, he was dreading it since they always shadowed him at home, and so far looks as if he had lost them on the way.
Mr Brazen came down the corridor, carrying his briefcase in one hand and his walking stick in the other. He wasn't old or anything, in fact he was the youngest teacher at this school probably, but he was in an accident and needs the stick for support. We all make fun of him, and he normally joins in. just behind him we saw the bikers, well, one of them. When he got to the door the biker stopped behind him ignoring the rest of us. We all sat down, still all bewildered about the strange new comer.
'Welcome back class, before I make any formal announcements, Conner is joining our class for the remaining two years, as Mrs Mc Kenney has left and her group has been split up. We will also have some others joining us, but it looks like they are late.' he sort of mumbled the last part, as he hates people being late, but he normally lets people off on the first day. Conner choose to sit on his own, at the front corner of the class, closest to the door.
'Right, better get down to business. Any girl wanting to join cheerleading club is to sign up today in the gym and have a routine by next week. Any football players, baseball players, soccer players or any other sports person is also to go to the gym today and sign up. Try-outs will be all of next week.' he babbled on like that for a while, but I wasn't listening, and Vicky sitting next to me could see that,
'What are you looking at?' she asked trying to look in the same direction as me,
'Don't you see him?' I answered careful not to attract any attention,
'All I see in that direction is the Biker, and you have a boyfriend so why would you look at him,' she sort of trailed off at the last part, for two reasons, one was Mr Brazen was walking around the room giving out time tables, and two, she probably couldn't understand why I was looking at him, but she probably knew why I was.
'I have never noticed him before.' I whispered,
'That's because he is a biker and has never said two words our way,' she replied scanning both our time tables,' hey look, we have advanced Chemistry and maths together, and biology. Wow, this means I only have to find a partner in history and physics.' she sounded happy, whilst I just looked in the same direction. Why couldn't I get over how nice he looked, I wanted to stare at him all day, but I had a boyfriend, the feeling was to strange to describe. I was still in a trance when the bell went, Vicky was trying her hardest to get my attention,
'Hey, Gypsy, hello? Is anyone there?' she asked as she waved her hand in front of my face,
'What? O right.' I finally said,
'lets go, we got biology together first lesson anyway.' she said walking out the door. I grabbed my stuff and quickly caught her up. We walked quite quickly to class, as the bell had gone ages ago. We managed to get there on time still, and quickly unpacked our stuff in our usual places and wait for our teacher.
That lesson went quickly, as did the rest of the lessons in the morning. I had maths, then physics then English. Once lunch came, I walked to our usual hang out, and saw Vicky and Liz already waiting.
'Hey, where are the boys?' I asked getting my lunch out of my bag, I didn't really trust the school dinners as much as everyone else.
'They already got a lunch detention for back chatting Mr Hemlock. They are going to be there for the next half an hour.' Liz replied, then biting into her sandwiches.
We sat there for the next half hour waiting for the boys to come, talking about our morning and who was in what class.
'So any new hotties spotted yet?' Liz asked us, just finishing her lunch.
'Gypsy has got her eye on someone, haven't you' Vicky told her,
'I have not, I am still with Rob if you hadn't noticed.' I defended myself,
'Sure, that's why you couldn't stop looking at the biker this morning,' Vicky said as she waved to the boys,
'His name was Conner, and I do not like him, I like Rob' joining her as she got up to make room for Markus and David.
'So you remember his name now do you?' Vicky said,' what next his address?'
'Who's address?' both the guys asked at once, 'Who we talking about?' David finished off.
'Gypsy has a crush,' Vicky half sung half said, 'on a biker.'
'Are you mental, a biker, honestly,' Liz asked me,' I mean a jock was bad enough but now a biker, why cant you find someone that we like?'
'because the only guys you like happen to sing at concerts and be a bit out of our reach.' I told her as I got up to go and great Rob.
'Ha ha very funny, but at least I like someone that is normal.' she shouted across the yard at me.
I walked over to Rob and greeted him with a quick kiss on the lips.
'Hey, I have missed you since last week, and all morning.' he gave me another kiss,' what was with Vicky saying something about liking someone normal?' he asked,
'Its just they think that, you know what it doesn't matter.' I thought that if I told him it would only cause problems between us.
'Ok then, as long as its nothing.'
'Trust me, its just us lot messing around.' I kissed him again.
'Hey come with me, you have got to look at this,' he said as he pulled me to where he was sitting.
'Hey Gypsy, how was your holiday?' asked Ashley, the head cheerleader,
'Heya, it was fine thanks.' I answered, no need to go into a deep discussion about my summer when we both knew that we both weren't interested, and only talking to please Rob.
'look, they finally made the football pitch off limits at lunch,' he told me smiling, I should have known that with Rob, something important was always something to do with sports.
'that's great Rob, hey did you get any new kids in your group,' I asked him directing us back to my group,
'Yeah, loads of wanna-be's, little cheerleaders, and little jocks, how bout you?' he asked still smiling from the big announcement.
'We never get anyone new.' I said, It was true though, our group had always staid as the five of us, and that's just the way it was.
'I'm sure you will, its just a matter of time, hey look, I told you, there are people talking to Markus.' he said, pointing in their direction. We hurried over to them,
'hey guys,' I said sitting back down in the empty spot I left.
'hey, Gypsy these two are my sisters, they want to hang with us for a bit,' he mumbled, I could tell he hated this idea so someone had to stop them, and it appeared I had been nominated.
'hey, look I'm sure that they have plenty of other new mates, and plus we are happy just the five of us, sorry.' I apologised to the twins, they got up, and stormed off,
'thanks for that, I wasn't sure how to tell them.' Markus said to me as he finished his lunch,' so whats the big news ?' he asked me
'Oh, just something to do with the football pitch.' I told him, Rob had now gone back to his gang, and was entertaining the rest of them by joking around with the freshmen. The rest of lunch went quite quickly, so did the last two lessons. We had decided at lunch to go to Mastons after school, since my dad owns it, we normally get free food. I met up with the others, and we all took my car, since the others couldn't be bothered to drive up to the restaurant.
We got there 20 minutes later, and parked in my favourite place, the space under the trees right next to the building. We walked in and sat at our usual table by the window. I could see that other groups from school had come here as well, the geeks, the dopes and the bikers. I recognised Conner, it looked like he wasn't really paying attention to his mates, since they were laughing at one of the jokes they had said about the geeks (they talk really loud). Jay came over and took our orders, my older brothers hate doing that, but its their job, I get to work in the kitchen, its not bad, but I would rather be a waitress, my dad wont let me because last time I tried it I dropped every tray that I carried on the floor.
We started talking about what we were doing at the weekend, we would have normally gone to Markus's house, because he used to have a massive swimming pool in his back garden, and living in Texas, we got a lot of time in the pool. But in his new house, there wasn't a pool yet, so we had to come up with some ideas to do at the weekend.
We ended up deciding that a trip to the cinema would be the best thing, since no where else sounded fun. After we had finished our food, we started to leave, but not before the strangest thing happened.
'Hey, you,' came a voice from one of the other crowds, 'wait a minute.' I looked round to see Conner running over to us, avoiding all the tables in the process.
'hey.' I said puzzled,
'Hey can I talk to you for a second, with out these.' he said pointing to the others,
