It was just a road
Simple and silent
But surreal
And centuries long
Somehow
I felt I belonged
Beneath these ugly
Matriarchal arches
Gnarled to scare
Normal born mortals
As the blood rain fell
And the ripe heart fruits
Pounded with phlegm
Migrating to the wombs
Of slaughtered gargoyles
As the red rivers flowed
I looked down
And knew the truth
Saw the truth in puddles
The reflection of me
Was a man
An ugly man
A beautiful man
It was my father
It was me.
