Sign of the times

I've often heard it said
That ' The more things change
the more they stay the same'.
And the intricate intricacy I dread
The notion so simple and strange
Treated lightly like some childish game.

For the adage is clear and plain
The message is there to be gleaned
A lesson long ago learned, to be learned anew
To avert all terrible calamityand pain.
Absolved of all wrong, wash cleaned.
But perhaps it's wisdom to awesome to accrue.

Memories short, still raping and squandering
And some, philosophers and poets left wondering.
