Walking the Streets

Walking the streets in Aberdeen
You’ll never guess the things I’ve seen
I’d no idea that I would find,
My imagined Back Wynd of the Mind.
Walking the streets in Aberdeen
You’ll never guess the things I’ve seen
The Granite Mile has changed a lot
Empty buildings are left to rot.
Walking the streets in Aberdeen
You’ll never guess the things I’ve seen
Deliverers ride electric bikes,
Choose whichever Highway Code they like.
Walking the streets in Aberdeen
You’ll never guess the things I’ve seen
Drunken people shout and scream
Worse than any fevered dream.
Walking the streets in Aberdeen
You’ll never guess the things I’ve seen
Homeless bedded in shop doors,
Slipping through society’s floor.
Walking the streets in Aberdeen
You’ll never guess the things I’ve seen
New buildings like little boxes,
Oh and you should see the foxes.
( A companion piece to my 'Back Wynd of the Mind' poem from years back)
