A Meditation on Jesus
When we believe, when we are born again we know in our mind that we
have Jesus inside us by His Spirit.
In our busy day to day life, it's not that we take it for
granted;
it's more that we either forget or just feel we have no time to
actually `live` that reality: but what does it actually mean to have
Jesus with us by His spirit.
This Jesus loves us and is interested in everything about us. What we
do, think and feel.
He is the silent witness who is able to speak into any situation. He is
the Good Shepherd who wants to guide and protect us.
Just focus on Him now with the eyes of your heart.
Truly, is there anyone more beautiful than Him, the maker of the
Universe?
Think about what beauty means to you visually in your mind's eye and
how it makes you feel, do you believe that Jesus is more beautiful than
that image?
Is there anyone more loving? We all know people who have loved us and
made us feel loved, ask your soul is there anyone more loving than
Jesus?
He died a vicious, awful death and he died with His eyes fixed on
everyone of us, individually. If you were the only person on earth, He
would have died for you.
His gaze never leaves our eyes for all eternity, in times of life
aching stress we truly can `son` bathe, s-o-n bathe.
Just for a moment let yourself feel that reality. Let yourself relax,
He is here by His spirit and we can let go the cares of this
world.
Because of the cross potentially Heaven came down for all of us who
believe. Let Him love you, enjoy a touch of what we can have for
eternity.
Let eternity intrude now.
Let Jesus love you, feel the presence of the Holy Spirit.
I have this waking fantasy. I am about to meet Jesus, but the Jesus of
2000 years ago. It's Israel, perhaps 31AD; somehow I've travelled back
in time. Not even travelled, I'm there as my normal 21st century self
and I can experience everything, the smells, the sounds; I even
understand the language.
It's an extremely hot, cloudless day. There is a multitude of people
walking in the same direction, towards a certain hill. The ground is
very dry and rocky, some people are exhausted, friends, or they could
be family are helping these weaker people. The heat and conditions are
not bothering me at all, but I am taking my time; I know who I am going
to see and the tension of anticipation is too beautiful to rush.
Finally the crowd is assembled around a figure I can't yet see, I
should be able to make out the words He is saying, but I can't or won't
yet.
What do I feel like?
There is a kind of joy to this anticipation the joy of seeing the face
you've so longed to see, to hear a voice you've so longed to hear. My
heart is full like a lover. Yes, that's it He is my love, my first
love, He doesn't even need to notice me, if I see Him I just know there
will be a kind of healing.
Finally I concentrate and take the scene in, the crowd, and the crowd
again, individual faces, transfixed.
I can't wait any longer and let Him come into view.
He is tall with long, dark brown hair, He has a beard not too full, and
yes He looks like every person's `idea` of what Jesus should look like,
I let that be the case, I can't `create` God.
His face has not yet fully materialised but I sense such love
emanating, I could die in this warmth, my heart has such a longing I
want to cry and let warm tears fall down my face.
I cry out, no one else will hear me, I know that.
"Jesus, JESUS!"
He is turning around to look at me, shall I see His eyes, I must only
imagine them, no perhaps.
His eyes are fully on mine, now in this rocky place, 2000 years ago,
but for eternity. His eyes are speaking to me, he is yet silent.
"I know you precious child, why do you stay so far away?"
I just look at Him and let His eyes burn me very clean. Oh I know the
doctrine, I know His blood has cleansed me, but I need to feel it, feel
my stain burnt away.
"I am always here for you, truly loved one, I am the lover of your soul
receive my love."
Suddenly His voice rings out and now the multitude can hear Him
also.
"Receive my love!"
His voice is echoing forever.
