Goodbye
Because I'm leaving you
you cried hard.
I tried hard to explain
why it was better for me to go
than to keep pretending.
I'll miss your welcome home,
and what I spend on food
I'll only waste on sentiment.
I'll miss your smelly feet
and the extra time I have
I'll waste on silent thought.
Because I'm leaving you
my parents will be sad,
though my friends may well be glad;
they never liked your laugh
or the fact you dressed in brown.
I'll miss the burnt fish fingers
and the cheapo shitty tea-bags
you always used to buy.
Take care.
I feel sure I'll never paint another wall
magnolia.
