Something popped up on my mobile phone this week, I glanced at it, but it didn’t make sense. Then a few days later, something came up on my mobile again, this time I was seated at home and I realized it was the information that had come on my phone days before.
I then read the information, and as I sat and read, the horrors of what I was reading dawned on me.
It was the awful accident that happened in Portugal, with a large pully that brings people up and down the steep hillside, one goes up, as one goes down.
At first, I thought one or two people had died, but no, sixteen people lost their lives! Some were from England. Two of the British citizens were named, with one still to be named.
What an awful tragedy. Most of those killed, were tourist from all around the world, the many countries were named. For me, the steep hillside, is not the sort of thing I would have chosen to go on. Having said that, I have been on the great London eye. It made my husband nervous, to me it felt safe. We are all different, some are braver than others.
I feel for the families around the world, who have lost loved ones, who had been in the tragedy.
The funicular travels 900 feet and takes three minutes, it was used by older people, and people used it to commute to work, four of those who used it for work, perished.
My brother Aaron is in Europe now, on holiday, while he is in the country that he flew to, he has told me, “I will be going to another country while I am here.” It brought it home to me, how a loved one, can go away and meet their fate! Thankfully he is well. We play Wordle, everyday and say, “Good morning,” Or “Good afternoon.” Then when we get it right, we say to each other, “Well done.”
My condolences, to all and may their souls rest in peace.
