Olorato was going on a date, she let her family and friends know, and let them know, where she would be meeting, and what time. She made sure the date was in the day-time and not at night. All this was done for safety reasons.
An hour later, after her friends had wished her well, her phone had gone silent, and the location showed her phone to be in a dangerous part of the city.
Some of her friends went to look for her, but the place didn’t look good, and so her friends got nervous. They eventually found her bag; it was then they reported her missing to the police.
Her friends, hearts sank, they didn’t think they would find her alive. When she was found she was many miles away, from where she should have been.
She had been badly beaten, her face swollen and her top ripped off exposing her breast.
Her Mother, said the image of seeing blood everywhere, when she went to morgue to identify her only child’s body, “Will never go away.”
CCTV shows Olorato leaving her home for the last time, walking towards the white car, where her date was, she is seen hesitating, as it seems two men were in the car and not just her date, so she gets in the back seat.
Four days after Olorato was killed, the little white car was found with her blood inside, on the back seat.
Two men, have been identified as part of a dangerous criminal syndicate, that lure young women out on dates and then rob them at gunpoint.
Within a few days, 94 women let the police know the identity of the men, that they had been on dates with, and that they too had been robbed.
South Africa has one of the highest rates of murder in the world for women, at least 15 women will be murdered there each day.
There are Women’s groups that are trying, to promote safety for women.
One of the men in the car, when the police found him, they shot him dead! The second man from that car, that Olorato was in, he is on the run.
Rest in Peace, Olorato Mongale, age just 30.
