WORDS.

I have been trying to learn Italian on and off for years! From the age of 20, when I went to evening college for beginners Italian, to the present day, on my mobile for free, via Duolingo.

Words fascinate me, and sometimes when I struggle to grasp the words from Italian to English, I wonder why it is not always easy to translate from Italian to English. It is not always straightforward word for word. My favourite part of Duolingo is when it is just that, matching the Italian word with the English word. Sometimes that happens, very late at night, and it last for about 15 minutes, it is great, it is then that I know that I have learnt lots of Italian words, but when it comes to putting those words in a sentence, that is when I find it difficult.

English has SO many amazing and strange words.

Like razed to the ground, for an Italian learning English, or anyone else for that matter, that might be difficult to grasp.

From the death of Charlie Kirk, who I have never heard of until yesterday, two other words came to mind:-

Manhunt, I am surprised some have not tried to change that word to something else.

And the other word:-

At large, how strange is that, but I suppose, just as the Italians have their words and meanings, so do we, the English.
