Leave Me Hope

You take away my lifes possessions,
Such trivia that I own.
You burn the roof above me,
These walls that I call home.
You part me from the ones I love,
That's all we have to share,
You beat me with your rule book,
And say you're being fair.
You've shown me your sweet charity,
Swinging from a rope.
But you've left me with the air I breath,
And so you leave me hope.
Shining in the void you've put me, filling every part,
Only fading when your bullets still my heart.
But for every final heartbeat,
Ten more will take its place,
They will multiply the hope you spurned,
And throw it in your face.
As sure as daylight follows night,
Your reign will soon be through,
And who could blame us if we did,
What you did, back to you.
You should know the feeling of frustrated, cheated lives,
You should know the pain of loved ones made to cry.
You should touch the heartbreak I have touched because of you,
You didn't spare a thought for me, so why should I for you.
You're laughing now behind the hand that holds the lock and
chain,
You wont be laughing when our land belongs to us again.
Your abuse of power and privilege has weakened all your laws,
You can hide behind your weighted scales no more.
You've left me with the hope I live for, warm beneath my skin.
And while you leave me hope, you'll never win.
You didn't spare a thought for me,
When you destroyed my history.
You didn't give a damn for right or wrong.
Well now the wind of change is here,
Your arrogance has turned to fear,
And now you'll sing a very different song.
