1920's Love

Billy Johnson was born in 1906 to a poor family in New York. The
family struggled to survive and looked for the day when they could put
Billy to work to help make money for the family. A horrible thing
happened in the world, but did many good things for the Johnson family
and many other poor American families. This thing was America's
entrance into the Great War. After defeating the Central Powers,
America's economy prospered. Families that were once poor and had to
work long hours now had some time on their hands as well as a little
bit of money. Two things were becoming popular during the 1920's as
well, movies and automobiles. Both of these things would prove to be
quite important for Billy Johnson and many other teenagers.
When movie theaters were first introduced, many people stayed away
from them because people did not trust having to be put in a pitch-dark
room. Surely there was some scam involved. People got past this feeling
but some people still looked down on movie theaters for other reasons.
The poor were generally the only people to go, there was no ventilation
and the risk of fire without escape was extreme. One complaint caught
Billy's eye. The Vice Commission of Chicago believed that "many
liberties are taken with young girls within the theater during the
performance when the place is in total or semi-darkness. Boys and men
slyly embrace the girls near them and offer certain indignities." Billy
Johnson had heard about stuff like this from friends that they had some
how picked up on. None of them knew anything about girls either, but
the ideas were there. Billy had been to the movies with his father and
now that he would not have to work and his father had money, he could
go to the movies by himself someday. Billy met a girl at school and
asked if she would like to attend a film with him. Her name was Cindy
and she agreed but both of them lied to their parents about who they
were going with. Surely their parents would have wish to supervise had
they known, and Billy was intent on trying these certain indignities.
Billy desperately awaited the day to go the movies with Cindy.
When the day arrived, Billy dressed clean and sharp. He made sure he
smelled nice and his breath was relatively odor free. He made his way
to the movie theater, which was within walking distance (there were
many within walking distance). Billy purchased his ticket as well as
Cindy's and they entered the building. Billy took a seat near one of
the corners, even though there were much better seats still available.
Cindy did not say anything though; she just followed where he took her.
The two sat down and talked casually before the lights slowly turned
down. The movies were short, thirty minutes at best, so Billy needed to
make his move. He slyly stretched and put his arm behind the head of
Cindy. Following this move, he did nothing. Too nervous to move, he
just sat there, contemplating what he needed to do. Cindy recognized
this indecision and made the move herself. She leaned towards him and
pressed her lips against his. The two pulled apart and looked hard at
each other. After holding the look for a few seconds, they both
basically jumped at each other. They held each other close as their
faces became one. Each of their tongues was buried deep into the others
mouth. They did this the length of the movie without being caught. The
theater wasn't close to being sold out and they were a good distance
from anyone else. The two walked out, very satisfied with the
experience and agreed to do it again some time.
It didn't take long for Billy to want to try the indignities again. He
set another date to meet with Cindy at the same movie theater. They
picked the same spot in the theater. As they sat and talked though,
they noticed a disturbing trend. The people coming in were not
stopping. Soon, the entire theater was filled. There was no way that
they could do what they did last time. Certainly the person next to
them would complain. Billy thought for an instance that possibly the
person next to him wouldn't be too upset but his senses quickly came
back to him. Billy sat, entirely disappointed. The movie began and
images of a doctor were projected on the screen. Billy's eyes suddenly
lit up. The doctor reminded him of something he had heard a doctor had
prescribed to treat women with hysteria. The doctors were supposed to
"massage the genitalia with one finger inside until the woman
experiences hysterical paroxysm." He had heard a girl would very much
enjoy this even if they hadn't been suffering from hysteria. He figured
it could also be down covertly. Billy looked over at Cindy who was
looking at the screen, obviously disappointed as well. He looked down
her body, first at her breasts. They were, however, not significant.
This was because at the time, girls wore bras to de-emphasize their
breasts. Billy moves farther down her body and stopped at her waist
where a short skirt was attached. This was the first time in American
history girls went around wearing short skirts and Billy loved it.
Billy reached down with his right hand and put it on the side of
Cindy's leg. Cindy looked down curiously but did not move his hand.
Billy rubbed her leg affectionately for a while on the outside of her
skirt. With a deep breath, Billy bravely lifted up the skirt. Cindy
looked straight ahead, apparently focusing hard on the screen but with
something else on her mind. Billy moved up the inside of the skirt and
slid his hand into the bottom of Cindy's underwear. Billy's fingers
reach through a patch of hair unlike any he has run his fingers
through. He gently placed his fingers against her body and slowly, in a
tip toeing motion, moved farther down her midsection. With one walking
finger, Billy penetrated Cindy's body. Cindy let out a slight gasp but
it went unnoticed by those around her. Billy noticed though and decided
to go a little bit further. Billy moved his fingers slightly, as Cindy
opened her mouth wide, but without making a sound. Billy was enjoying
this and he wanted to keep going but a beam of light exposed Cindy's
lap. The two turned and saw an usher peering at them. Cindy covered up
quickly as everyone in the theater turned to see them in their
humiliation.
Billy was prosecuted for leading girls astray by The New York Society
for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, the leader in presenting
cases against movie theaters. They stated that only God knows what else
the two have done within that theater. Cindy and Billy were still very
much curious about each others bodies. They could no longer go to the
movies to do anything, and his father would surely never allow a girl
into his bedroom, which he shared with a brother anyway. His father now
had a Ford Model T and Billy was occasionally allowed to drive it. He
had heard new stories about the use of a car in sexual ambitions. Billy
was occasionally allowed to take this out to drop off some stuff at his
grandmother's house and then whatever he wished after he finished the
errand. He decided he would one day pick up Cindy and make another
attempt at sexual conquest. This way he wouldn't have to do anything in
public. Cindy agreed to the idea and they were ready for the next time
Billy got the car.
The day finally came where Billy got to take out the Model T. He also
got it during the night so that he would have the cover of night to
protect him in case anyone saw the car. He drove to a spot he and Cindy
had agreed on and picked her up. He drove the car out a field and
parked it under a tree. The two teens faced each other, smiled, and
pressed their lips together. They started slow, kissing gently and
touching each others hair. As the pace picks up they start hitting
things like the dash and the steering wheel. Almost simultaneously they
stop, quickly get out of the car and into the back seat where they
start right where they left off. They kiss furiously without taking a
breath. Billy lets his hands wander again, getting more into the act.
Billy takes the typical flapper skirt and pulls it over Cindy's head.
The two continue to remove clothing until there is nothing left. Cindy
lied down on the back seat and pulled Billy down on top. Cindy and
Billy conquered a sexual quest and had sex. Billy arose from the seat
very soon after, but he had accomplished what he had set out to do. Now
he had the stories to tell and had added to the reputation of the Model
T which would soon be known as the "bedroom on wheels." Billy was now a
part of the generation that started the tradition of hooking up. There
was a horrible, demoralizing problem though.
In the 1920's, condoms were mass produced and used. However, condoms
were not discussed openly, especially around children. Billy and Cindy
were not educated about sex or the way to have safe sex. Since they did
not know anything about condoms, they did not use one and nine months
after their sexual conquest, ended up with a baby boy. Billy had
experienced the growing pains of a new way of life.
