The Bus Driver
By Paul McCann
It was late at night and it was
the right time was to be leaving the city as the missiles we’re in flight and on their way .
Some buildings were already falling as the bus made its way along picking up passengers .
It stopped on the road to collect another .
The driver opened the door and said ,
“Well there’s still some room if you’ve got the fare .”
The passenger showed his travel pass and the driver said .
“Well you better get on board with the rest of us for this is the only bus on the highway covered in dust and there’s no turning back
now . “
The passenger took a seat on the bus packed to overspill as it went up the hill and down and around the bend to the next stop where three more got on board .
No one on the bus made
any fuss , they were all happy to be making their way along the highway covered in dust .
With only one or two seats left empty the driver pulled up at the top of a hill and stepped outside to have a look at the city that was destroyed by the bombs that rained down from the sky .
The city looked more like an uninhabited wasteland than what once was a busy modern city bustling with everyday things .
Two more passengers presented themselves to the driver showing travel passes . They were told to get on board . The driver got back in behind the wheel and the bus made its way further along the dusty highway to a mountain where a road wound itself around and upwards , higher and higher to another freeway to the stars with Jesus behind the wheel .
Everyone stared singing with their hands in their in praise of God for being saved .
The voices were sing out in harmony
“ We’re going home on the righteous bus .“
The bus stopped outside the pearly gates where all the passengers names were checked before being allowed to enter the Kingdom .
Then the good Lord got back on board and brought the passengers home , one by one home to the mansions that were allocated to them in heaven where they all lived happily ever after .
The End
