Chapter 14

The Fairies Of The Bog Oak

 

When the Fairy King was gone life had changed . The magic was gone . The fairy Queen never sang and she by the window sat gazing into space , waiting and hoping that the King would return .

Every day she saw the wild flowers decaying and the  fragrance of the blossom trees was gone  . The Queen didn’t want to be seen by anyone,  but from her window she could saw all the fairies racing and chasing each other , flying around , over and under the old bridge at memory lane , On the  border between earth and space in the never time where fairies exist , she often looked through the portal at a time long ago when she would go there to sing as people came  with their picnic baskets .

It now seemed an eternity since then and she missed those times when people  made their way to that place to relax and be in harmony with nature .

In those days she liked to be seen and  heard and she sang with her beautiful voice that put people in a trance and in that state where they floated in a deep sleep the fairies of the bog oak could speak to them in their dreams .

While they were captured in a dream state , they were able to appreciate life in the  enchanted kingdom , far beyond the sky where wishes came true and unicorns flew anywhere, they wanted and things were just exactly how they should be ,

But something happened to change all that and on the day that the greedy Bogman wish wasn’t granted he refused to assist the passage of people in his  boat up and down through the streams of the subconscious realms . From that moment the realm became empty and angry , the enchanted kingdom started to disappear .

The people with their picnic baskets never came and the Fairy Queen never sang again and the Fairy King vanished . The landlady of time came and put up a for Lease sign on the enchanted kingdom and in the twinkling of an eye , , everything was gone . The Fairy King was missing and all the fairies were busy searching for  him . but no one knew where he had gone / They continued looking over and under , above and beyond , in the shadows and in the radiance of light .

The enchanted kingdom seemed a little darker now and night lasted a long time .

It was a mystery where the King could be , no one knew why or where no one had any insight to what had happened .

All over the bog oak it was dark and gloomy .There were no more wild flowers growing and in their place were weeds .

In the cabin where the Bogman lived there was a parrot that couldn’t talk .

One of the fairies had an idea and one day while as the Bogman slept Pog the fairy snuck inside the cabin and captured the parrot and took him to the Castle where all the fairies gathered .and they all made a wish that the parrot could talk .

Then out form the mouth of the parrot a moth flew followed by a voice ,

"Hi there fairy folk ,  my names Peggy and since I have my voice back , you can ask me anything you like “

One of the faraway fairies shouted aloud , ,

"We’ve all had just about enough of all this stuff and we’re not having any more of it so you better tell us where the Fairy King is or you’ll never utter another word again  today or tomorrow . “    

The parrot replied. 

“ So, says I , to you . well let me tell you something now , if you’re trying to get me to tell you where the Fairy King is then you better not go any further as I promised I’d never talk about that to anyone “

The parrot had no idea what was going to happen next because the fairies had just the right kind of thing to loosen the parrots tongue . Magic fairy floss and fairy cakes were brought by and offered to the parrot . The thing about the treats was as soon as you would eat any of them you would have to speak the truth and you would not be able to stop talking until the effect wore off  .

‘Here’s a few things we baked this morning , you might like to try “

Said the fairy pastry cook .

Straight away the parrot was eating all that was there , then he began talking.

“Oh, I see then in that case I will have to tell you a few things . These fairy cakes are really nice , I lived in a cage in the Bogman’s cabin and I heard him make a wish to be King and when his wish wasn’t granted, he went out to get revenge . He knew without the King the queen wouldn’t be happy and she would stop singing and the people wouldn’t be able to come to the enchanted Kingdom .So he grabbed the Fairy King in the bog oak and put him inside a bottle that he keeps under his bed . The only thing that can release the King from his prison is a song from the fairy queen and since she’s not singing , he remains imprisoned in that bottle .”

All the fairies looked so surprised at what the parrot said and began to give the parrot some fairy floss and other sweets “

Now that they all the information they needed, they were going to take Peggy back to the Bogmans cabin but the parrot requested to stay in the castle because he loved their sweet candies and  choccie-choc sticks and had no notion of leaving any day soon .

“Oh Peggy , we are so happy that you want to stay with us.

The fairies said.

Then on a specific day when the Bogman was going to make a visit to his brother all the fairies went to his cabin to rescue the king and set him free .

Into the bog oak forest, the fairies flew .. Some were dancing in flight other making music .

Down by the brook they took a look at the bubbles and something told them that their troubles were almost over . The bubbles in the brook seemed to be giggling and underneath the water the fish were whispering softly their secrets to the wind that carried them to the meadows where the dragonflies and butterflies took them to  the fairies in the sky and sure then the unicorns would know what was going to happen soon in the bog oak forest .

Suddenly a white horse with wings and a horn on its head landed on the ground and began to pound the ground where the wild buttercups jumped up and soon afterwards wild flowers started to appear all over the forest .

So in went the fairies to the Boigmans cabin where the grabbed the bottle that was in a wooden box under the  bed and they fled out the door at sped to the castle where the Fairy Queen , jumped up to her feet and without thinking she began singing with her beautiful voice that shattered the glass bottle releasing the Fairy King and in that moment there was a shouting and screaming of joyful sounds as the fairies went out flying into the sky and through the corridors on the parallel  universe bringing  the

News that the Fairy King had returned ,

“Golden drops of sunlight fell into the wishing wells and stones were turned into gold nuggets by the bubbling brook near the Bogman’s cabin .

The landlady of time returned and took away the for lease sign from the enchanted Kingdom and put it on the Bogmans cabin door .

The Bogman never returned and the fairies regained control in the enchanted Kingdom .

Life was good and people were returning with picnic baskets once more and magic was everywhere .

The Queen was singing again .and people were sent into a trance as the fairies shared their mystical tales around the steams of the subconscious where people liked to go . Once in a forever time in the Fairy King and Queen danced in the marble hall for everyone to see .

Oh how distinguished they were , as they danced in the fairy light and all around the castle , the fairy folk joined in the dance . as debutantes with the king and the queen who were celebrating the return of magic in the kingdom .

The secret wishes  started to arrive on the wings of dragonflies who joined in the dance and without any delay or dismay, all those wishes were being granted in the enchanted kingdom in the light of the new day .The perfumed petals decorated trees  all around the castle where the fragrance of heaven fell  upon the airs of grace in the kingdom .

There in a golden cage sat Peggy the parrot who by far had the most beautiful display of colours ever seen on any bird any where .

Peggy was content to be there where fairy cakes and candy arrived morning noon and night .

It was always springtime there and many wishes had already come true for people who had heard the fairy queen sing in the land of dreams and wonder .

The Queen and King were seen in the brightest gleam that was ever seen and their  faces were serene and at peace .
