Filipinos Through The Storm

The storm came like a dark shadow across the land

and nothing could stand in its way .

Everything was torn down and abandoned

and left in ruins for another day .

The sorrow and the suffering

was felt by all who love the people of this land  .

and the whole world saw the devastation

of a Typhoon they called Haiyan .

The hospitals were full of injured people

and there was no room for anymore

but there were smiles from the nurses and

a  warm welcome for those coming through the door .

In the provinces of the Philippines

the floods surged through the villages and streets ,

people looked to the sky and wondered why

and their Filipino faith took huge leaps .

After the storm there is a moment to share

After a prayer we are all aware

Of the faith , strength and courage

of Filipino people who know how to suffer .

As I see those noble faces I think

How much we all take for granted each day ,

and hope to be more like a Filipino

if a storm like that should come my way .
