Just Adjusting
By Paul McCann
.
I must adjust to things I've lost .
It’s part of life’s on going cost .
Growing old and accepting it .
With some help I can keep my grip .
My sights all right, my hearings good,
I can’t remember things I should .
I must adjust to things I’ve lost ,
Sometimes its like my wires get crossed .
Like what did I do yesterday .
I’m forgetful but that ’s ok .
Its hard to find the words to say ,
they seem a million miles away .
I must adjust to things I’ve lost .
Where’s the stand that my hat was tossed ?
So many things I seem to loose ,
My keys , my pen , my watch ,
my shoes ,
All my things seem to disappear ,
I left them there but they’re not here .
I must adjust to what I’ve found ,
I can hear a happy sound ,
I still can dance and I can sing .
I can smell flowers in the spring .
I see a smile you hold my hand .
Somehow I know you understand .

This is very touching, and seems to have grown out of sensitive observation and understanding. Rhiannon
