The Nature Of Change
By Paul McCann
Everything in life happens for a reason
and change is a part of that process .
Survival skills always happen
When ever life is threatened or put to the test .
Nature is governed by the four elements of the earth
fire , wind , water and air .
Life is sustained and presented with change
by adapting to whatever is there .
Evolution is why the salmon swim up stream and cane toads migrate on the hop ,
The birds fly south and the penguins go on a march .
Life continues , it cannot stop .
Do the trees grieve for all of the lost leaves that fall
and are tossed around by the wind?
No , trees settle in for winter
and adjust to the change as each season comes in.
Did butterflies cry after being hurled through swirls
as tsunamis crashed to the shore ?
No , they mutated to become stronger
and larger than they ever were before .
Do eucalypts die and become extinct
when bush fires rushed through the National parks ?
No, the fires released seeds and germination occurred
upon blackened charcoal barks .
Can life exist in a desolate desert
under the burning heat of the sun
Yes , desert plants have grown longer roots
while waiting for the seasonal rains to come .
Can life survive here on the planet
after the event of a nuclear war .
Mankind is trying to adapt by not making
all those mistakes we did before .
