The room was empty apart from one made bed, and a few empty
cupboards. Her granny had died many years before and this was all that
was left. Not much to show for a lifetime - one made bed, and a few
empty cupboards.
Her sister was staying there too, but she could not reach her. She was
alone now, staring at the bare walls thinking how many other memories
had been in the house.
The night crept closer and she was now alone. In the midst of the dark
she could hear her granny, calling her, she could see her face through
the darkness, even if she closed her eyes and pretended to be asleep,
she could still hear and see, the images of yesteryear sweeping through
her mind.
She must have slept a few hours, because the window was slightly

4.30 - 5.00 am, she was in the lane surrounded by fog, she kept on
walking through the lane, nothing but fog. As she got to the top of the
lane a lady in her early 40's was out in an old long dress, she was out
early on the farm getting the breakfasts ready for the farmers, no
doubt. As she smiled her two children, a boy and a girl ran passed,
they were laughing and joking, she wanted to go with them, but she
couldn't.
After all they were just fragments of her imagination of a time long
ago before she was even born.
