YOU'RE A WEEKEND DAD
At ten o'clock on a Saturday morn
He calls to his kids with a beep on his horn
They have waiting like little lost sheep
Their mother, still upset, is having a weep
His access was granted his chose the weekends
He looks like he's happy but he really pretends
His new lady friend waits down the street
A safe distance he's chosen so the pair never meet
For the next two days they're his to command
At first it was great now he understands
That the workload involved is one constant drain
And behind every small pleasure there's oceans of pain
As their marriage broke down they all lost their smiles
Now their lives lie all shattered on solicitor's files
A few burgers and fries and trips to the zoo
Won't replace quality times of which they are so few
But if we so called adults continue playing this game
We'll wreck their young lives and us they should blame
Because believe me it's true there's nothing so sad
As the beep on the horn, from the weekend dad.
