You Should Know

You should know...
When you came to me in falling summer
I was nothing more than a bitter strummer
You seared a hole with a bow and arrow
You cultivated me with a humming harrow
You climbed inside to find your throne
And you morphed me from a caustic drone
To an optimistic singer with songs and smiles
That existed first on your mental isles
You trimmed a rough-edged heart with walks
That stretched for miles with meaningful talks
Then you cut my heart in half, you see
To glue it with your melody
So as to occupy the space
Left by girls with nonesuch grace
A chasm into which you delved
Just to see my problems shelved
You broke inside with your skeleton key
And with adhesive you mended me
When you see me now in snowing winter
You watch me jog right past a sprinter
My jaunt enough to threaten stars
On the world-stage - I zip past cars
You moulded me (and TO me as well)
From within the chasm you ejected hell
Within phones you transported beloved tunes
Injecting me with needled croons
My heart is harvested with "the plough" of song
You come to me in dreams and we sing along
As you craft me a flutter unconsciously
These words become a tautology
For they mean what you should know is true:
These words mean that I fucking love you
