“Where is she?” I asked
As her hand firmly clasped
The tv remote to her ear.
Puzzled she looked
For it the phone she mistook
My heart skipped a beat with a tear.
Memories getting blurred
Remembering her young I preferred
But that’s living in the past.
Instead I’ve decided
As my councillor has guided
To make sure I have no regrets.
When she knows me by name
“She’s still here!” I proclaim
My heart swells up with love.
“Todays a good day!”
To myself I do say
And thank the lord above.
Those good days I cherish
The past getting blemished
But new memories need to be formed!
For a woman of ninety
Her spirit almighty
My whole outlook has been transformed.
