maybe you're a carrot
quite unyielding to the max
how does a carrot face
a situation that may tax
.
inside a pot of water
that is boiling at its peak
the carrot softens quickly
till it's limply hanging weak
.
perchance you are an egg
all moist with soft fluidity
how does the egg adjust
when faced with dire adversity
.
inside a pot of water
that is bubbling up a steam
the egg's a hardened travesty
which once was golden cream
.
perhaps you are a coffee bean
its flavor locked inside
just waiting for a vehicle
to take it for a ride
.
inside a pot of water
swimming through a lava bed
the coffee bean's victorious
the water yields instead
