All Hallow's Eve

T'was Halloween night, and all through the tomb
The ghosts were all dancing within gloom and doom
The cobwebs were spun by the black widow's lair
With hopes that the goblins soon would be there
The witches were waking as were the undead
While visions of children danced in their heads,

And the mummy all wrapped up, and I in my bed
Had just settled down to pretend we were dead.
When out in the graves arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my coffin to see what was the matter
Away to the window I flew like a bat
Then I waved my hand and turned into a cat.
The moon, it was shining with sinister light
It turned my hair a frightful white.

When what to my terrified eyes should I see,
Was a witch on her broom flying right towards me.
A wrinkled old crone, dressed all in black
So yucky and icky I was taken aback
More rapid than ravens her broom it did soar
She opened her mouth and out came a roar
"Out goblins and ghosts, out demons and trolls,
Wake up you zombies beneath grassy knolls.
To the top of the crypt, and the burial hall,
Scare away, scare away, scare away all."

The wind it did rage, and the lightning did crackle
She threw back her head and let out a cackle
Then with a flash the witch she was gone,
Up to my roof with her big black cauldron.
She added within a bag full of bones,
Some worms, a bat wing, and a jar full of moans.
Then with a crash, some smoke, and a flash,
She spoke the spell with great panache.

From out of the cauldron there was a rattle
I climbed to the roof to see all the prattle.
I looked at the witch, and she looked at me,
I looked in the cauldron to see what I could see.
Inside the cauldron all slimy and black
Was the Halloween spirit flat on its back.
She lifted it up, high into the air,
It vanished leaving on me a blank stare.

I looked at the witch as she picked at her nose,
And she said to me "well that's how it goes."
She packed up her stuff and jumped on her broom
She started to lift up into the gloom,
She threw back her head as she flew out of sight,
HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD FRIGHT!!!
