Part 10 : How God helped me….

This story is of the time when I had joined a spiritual organisation. I don’t want to write its name in it. Somebody told me that it is a bad practice. Please forgive me. Initially when I had joined it I was given knowledge in the form of teachings. After some time I had reached a certain level. Here I was checked whether I have understood the teaching by giving small tasks. When I performed the task I learned many things which I could also use in my day to day life. I interacted with people. Interaction with people teaches taught me many things. When I interacted with people, I learned new ways to perform the task better. I also learned something new that I have not done till today. Some fears which were hidden inside me vanished. In these tasks I made many mistakes. Nobody told me anything. I had the whole responsibility of the task. These tasks make me flexible. The story is about a task that was given to me. I didn’t know how to do it. I learned how to do it on that day. The great part was that I could be given different tasks in the day. Just I had to be ready.

It was a great Sunday morning. I was very happy. I was dressed in white. I reached the venue. The time was 7AM. After reaching there I found out that there were many people (volunteers) who had arrived to perform their task. After a while a meeting took place. In the meeting everybody was assigned their task. My task was to stand in front of the gate. In addition to that I had to greet the people who had come to attend the retreat and show them the hall where it would take place. Retreat is place where the teachings were given to the people. Furthermore I had to see that people don’t go out without permission. The task was similar to that of a guard. The task was a difficult one. The hall was on the first floor. An office was also situated on that floor. It was difficult to distinguish from the employees and the people who had come for the retreat. I had to go to then and ask them why they had come there. Neither the employees had their identity card nor the people who had come for the retreat had some identification. Sometimes I misunderstood the employees as the people who had come for the retreat. The employees were down to earth person. Whenever I made such a mistake they smiled at me. I was happier now. I also smiled at them. That day I smiled a lot that my cheeks started to pain. The retreat started at 9PM. I was told that I had to stand here for the whole day. I was alone there. There was nobody to talk. Only things to watch there were the staircase and the people moving around.

There was another hall on that floor. In it a course was being conducted. I didn’t know what were the timings of the course? It was a personality development course. The presenter of the course had a very loud voice. I was influenced by his speech. I saw a girl coming out from the hall. She was very beautiful. I was constantly watching here. She took the stairs and went away. After a few minutes I saw her coming from the stairs. I was bewildered. I started thinking why she had returned. I came to many conclusions. May be she had gone for some refreshment. She went inside the hall where the course was going on. In a few seconds she came out. I was still watching her. She noticed me. She smiled at me and told that she had forgotten her coat. I also smiled at her. She went away.

At 9AM a volunteer came and told me that I can go upstairs and have breakfast. There was a terrace. I went upstairs and had my breakfast. After fifteen minutes I returned to my place where I was standing from the morning. All the volunteers had their breakfast and went inside the hall where the retreat was going on. I could see them going. There was nobody to talk so after sometime I started feeling bored.

Two more hours passed. A volunteer came and called me for the meeting. There was a leader who was the in charge of the retreat. He asked everybody who can enter the data in the computer. I always liked chatting, sending e-mails on the computer. I shouted that I would enter the data. Everybody agreed. He told me that when I would be needed I would be called. I again returned to my same place. As time passed away my task became easier. There were less people whom I had to attend.

Now it was 11AM. I was standing on my place. I could see the leader coming towards me. I was guessing. I thought there may be some other task. I was correct. He started talking. He asked me whether I knew to play a DVD player. I had played the DVD players in the past. I had a DVD player at my home also. To be sure, I told him that if somebody could tell me the basics it would be easier to play it. He took me to the hall where the retreat was going on. It was still in progress. He told me to wait. When there would be a small break the volunteer who was operating it would tell me the basics. There was a break of ten minutes. Everybody went outside. The hall was empty. The volunteer told me how to play it. I didn’t understand it properly. He told that he would be there with me for the upcoming lecture. Everybody started returning. Now it was time for the retreat to start. The speaker gave the signal to the volunteer to play the lecture on the DVD. It was played with the help of a remote control. He did the required operation on the remote control to play the DVD but a different lecture started to play. He paused the player, did another set of operations on the remote control. This time the correct lecture played. He went away.

During the whole time of the lecture I was afraid. My hand and legs were shivering. I thought how I would manage. Who would help me? The lecture was of twenty minutes. Again everybody went outside. Now it was my turn. When the hall was empty I started doing the rehearsal. When the DVD was on I could see the chapters on the television. I had to select the chapter with the remote control which I had to play. The volunteer told me to enter the serial number of the lecture and quickly press the play button on it. I started doing that. Every time I did that a wrong lecture was played. Now I was more afraid. I started thinking about the future. I thought all the volunteer would laugh at me. Suddenly the co-ordinator came to me. He showed me how to play. In the middle of the remote control there were four buttons. First was to go upwards, another to go downwards, third to go left and last to go to the right. I didn’t understood what he was trying to say. He told me that he has selected the required chapter. I had to just press the play button on the remote control. People started coming in the hall. The lecture was going to start shortly. Now everything was set. It was time to start the lecture. The DVD player was ON. I pressed the play button. This time correct lecture was played. I felt relifed. I was a little happy. Worry went somewhere. I searched my whole mind where it could have hidden but I could not find anywhere. I heard the whole lecture very peacefully. I could hear the words of the speaker in the lecture. It was of ten minutes duration. These ten minutes were awesome. The lecture ended. The co-ordinator of the retreat announced a break. I could see the chapter again on the television screen. The worry which was hidden in my mind returned. I started feeling worried.

I saw the remote control. It was on the DVD player. I picked and started analysing it. I don’t know what happened I started pressing the up, down, left, right button. Pressing the up down button had no effect. When I pressed the left right button I noticed something happening. I again repeated the operations. That was the thing the co-ordinator of the retreat tried explaining me. I was not focussed that’s why I was not able to grasp it.

When I pressed the right button the cursor moved to another chapter. Similarly when I pressed the left button it moved to previous chapter. I can’t tell how happy I felt. I was on the top of the world. I thought I have got the precious ancient diamond but it was not the end. There were two rows displayed on the television screen. Each row had four chapters. If I had to play the 1st chapter in the second row I had to come back by pressing the back button to the first chapter in the first row and press the down button. This would move the cursor to the first chapter in the second row. Suddenly I saw the leader. I called him and told that I have learned to play the DVD. He was astonished to hear this. He gazed me for ten to twenty seconds. I don’t know from where the co-ordinator arrived. The leader told the co-ordinator that he has learnt to play the DVD. I told both of them that there would be no mistakes any further. Everything from that moment went so smoothly that I can’t tell you.

I don’t know how I got the idea. It was God who gave me the idea. In addition to that he helped me to bring the idea in action. God has always helped me in many ways. God thanks for your help again.
