Two years ago I did a software testing course. It was of three months duration. The specialty of this course was that on every Saturday there used to be guest lectures. These guests would come to the institute and deliver a talk on an aspect of testing. I always tried to take advantage of these lectures. I tried never to miss a lecture.
During the course I was also searching for a job. I always checked my e-mail because some recruiters e-mailed there requirement for professionals. It was Tuesday. I logged into my e-mail account. I started going through the e-mails. Suddenly I stopped at one e-mail. It was from the institute where I was doing the course. It said that there would be ISTQB lectures on weekends and we have to book our seats as early as possible as seats were limited. ISTQB is an organisation which works for the improvement in the software testing industry. Next day I went into the institute and reserved a seat for myself. I was waiting for Saturday very eagerly.
Saturday arrived. The lecture started at 11 am. The teacher who was going to take the lecture was very young. He was very frank. He told everybody to give introduction. When the introduction came to an end I came to the conclusion that there were two categories of students. First were studying and second were working in different companies.
One day of the lecture finished. It was very mind blowing because it directly related with the industry. On the second day the lecture started at the same time. There was a lunch break. We all came back to the class after the lunch break. The lecture started. After forty five minutes I don't know what happened to the teacher. He told all the students that we should help each other. In addition to that he told everybody to get the resumes of all the students present there and forward in their companies. I like what he said because I knew references weighted a lot and it was a speedy process. This process would get you a job call in a very little time.
When the lecture was going on there was a boy present there. He was working in a reputed company. In the lecture he used to answer many question. To me he seemed very knowledgeable. When the lecture ended i went to him. I asked him for his e-mail id so that I could forward my resume to him. He gave his e-mail id without hesitation. Everybody in the class started gazing at me. I went home and forwarded my resume to him.
Three days passed away. I started thinking that nothing would happen. On the fourth day I checked my e-mail. He has replied. His e-mail stated that he has forwarded my resume in his company and I would receive a call very soon. I was a happy.
After a couple of days I received a call from his company.
In real life networking means contacts. If you have networking you would be happier than other. Networking would help you to do your tasks easily. It would save your time, money and energy. You would be able to spend more time with your loved ones.
