Vaja

Vaja (You pronounce it Vaha, apparently) Marine Benson had small
features. Her face was normal sized, but the individual components
seemed scaled down, dollyish. She appeared delicate and was therefore
considered pretty. Men always wanted to scoop her up, carry her off to
a soft bed, and place her lightly atop the eiderdown, safe and sound.
Women found it difficult to be automatically bitchy about her, but
resilience meant they soon over came those barriers.
Vaja was petite, but seemed to be significantly smaller than she was.
There was something tortoisey about her, as though she pulled vital
inches of herself into her body.
Vaja always was softly spoken, sweet of spirit and kind to children and
small blunt toothed animals.
But she can't be that great, because she's still alive and the
supremely good die young.
