July morning sky,

heated metal, straw,

blue, cherry red,

quenched, hardened,

filed to brightness,

heated, straw, blue,

stench of hot steel,

quenched, tempered,

held over anvils,

heavy, lifeless, dull

fearful of the future,

broken by the past.
