The Forever Whale
by Sarah Lean
A book review.
This is a tale about a girl called Hannah Gray who is losing her dear, old Granddad to Alzheimer's disease. Her Granddad has a secret to tell, unable to due to his failing memories. Placed in a home, he has constant visits from his granddaughter, and family. The secret involves a whale.....(as the beautiful front cover suggests.)
Although, a sweet and simple story, I felt it was more about Hannah's Granddad's illness than the whale. I would have preferred more story about the whale.
The front cover is quite delightful with the whale hovering under the sea water and the small rowing boat jittering about above with the girl peering down to look at the wonders below.
I am happy to have read it this year.
I will rate this book 2 out of 5 stars.
It has 37 chapters and 263 pages. The publisher is Harper Collins.
