4-a-day smokes

Like most people I use to be a smoker. I picked it while in the military stationed in the jungles and rice fields of Southeast Asia for 12 months. The helicopters would come and drop from the sky our weekly supplies. The re-supply choppers were always a welcomed site with one negative aspect, we would have to carry a week’s’ worth of supplies on our back. We were supplied with 2 meals a day as advertised. The boxed meals called C-rats consisted of 1-can of meat, 1-can crackers w/ 1-chocolate bar, 1-can fruit and 4-cigarettes. Initially I wound give/trade mine to another soldier or Vietnamese kid. The kids did not smoke the cigarettes were used as currency so I was ok with that. Finally I weakened and the 4-a-day smokes got to me. It took me 3 years after my release to refrain from smoking. The smoking lobbyists that convinced the military to supply the troops with 4-a-day smokes should be “Water Boarded”.
