I long for my “Phoebe”

A pair of Eastern Phoebe have built a nest on my front porch just above a bench I sit on to watch these beautiful East Texas sunsets. They have returned every year to hatch a new batch of babies. Never have I seen a pair of birds work so well together from the building of their nest to feeding and caring for the babies. Side by side, everyday they are so connected with each other. I have watched the male bird sitting on a stone right off the front porch, closely watching his mate that is sitting up high in an oak tree above. If I could read his mind I’m convinced he is saying, "That's the love of my life right there", and feel quite certain that she's feeling the same way!
The ranch here in East Texas offers the peace, quiet, and beauty one longs for after years of the hectic hustle and bustle of the City. I love every minute of it here enjoying the uncomplicated life. But I long for my “Phoebe”.
