Come inside and take a look
Browse around and choose a book
Open it up and step inside
Visit places far and wide
In your mind and in your heart
It will be the very start
Of an adventure you will share
With others who've been already there
Those who love the printed page
Lost in time in a bygone age
Reading about the hero's valour
The heroine's unhealthy pallor
Enjoy being lost in Outer Space
On winning that Olympic Race
Let the tales float you away
Let imagination fly today
So come inside and look around
There's many stories to be founfd
To make you sad and make you weep
Or frighten you away from sleep.

Nothing beats

Nothing beats bookstores...does it, Phyllis?
I know Amazon, etc. is a very convenient way of ordering books online, but nothing is quite like actually going into one of those lovely bookstores you describe so well in your poem, and just browsing; I have whiled away many a rainy afternoon in one, going to all those places and more that you so eloquently speak of;-) Just a tiny typo - third line up from the bottom, should be 'found'.
Working in one yourself, I expect you have many more stories you can tell and I would love to read them.
