I woke up this morning

I woke up this morning
My lover he had fled
Lying on his pillow
Was a rose of pure blood red
Oh my handsome stranger
Why did you thus depart
After our night of naughtiness
You really stole my heart
Your eyes lit up with pleasure
When I produced the rope
The handcuffs didn't faze you
At least that's what I hope
Perhaps it was the dinner
That I prepared for you
After just one mouthful
You went a funny shade of blue
I just added a few spices
To enhance my home made stew
Some herbs and a clove of garlic
Which didn't agree with you
You choked and coughed and spluttered
As towards the door you went
Oh no, says I you're staying
After what I've spent
So as the morning brightens
I lie lonely on my bed
And what have I for my efforts
A bloody rose of red.
