B) The morning after

- 570 reads
The night before; that separate world
Where rules are bent and strangely skewed
And you, like a funfair mirror, change
Your reflection to suit the present mood
Drunk with laughter, drugged with lust
To flammable emotions kept concealed
A burning match is held and teased
Fire! And the hungry beast is revealed
Like an animal, free from shame
From the volcano long kept repressed
Inner urges flow and pour
Lava from this soul possessed
The morning after; debris strewn
The time no longer now and here
Instead you look back in regret
And look forward in dread and fear
