His yardstick
P K Routray
Equality or inequality,
plenty or poverty,
luxury or misery,
cruelty or mercy,
lustice or injustice,
gracious or vicious
are all creator’s fun
on which the creation is run.
Mortal man cannot judge,
nor an inch, these he can budge.
Try, man may with his divine power of love and serve
but the inequality, injustice and misery, he cannot swerve.
His hue and cry, prayer and propitiation at His door
proving Him as cruel or nonexistent, as these seem to fall in deaf ear.
But mind it, His ideas behind the difference none can penetrate
and the purpose with which the inequality He continues to create.
The yard stick of measurement is beyond mortal man’s comprehension,
though philosophers and sages from yore are yet to ascertain through contemplation.
One thought propels that He is infinity and His actions are infinite
and man cannot decipher anything beyond his intellectual horizon which is finite.
The second thought, a derivative to Pythagoras’ philosophy of metempsychosis
corrabating Hindu philosophy on the transmigration of soul as a basis.
explains these differences as mirage vanishing with time
over the birth and rebirth of soul, the inequality disappears without rhyme.
The dissimilar pictures thus are with temporary role
will alter their roles in the process of birth and rebirth of the soul.
The third thought speaks that pleasure and pain live together
immaterial whether one lives ln luxury or in misery or is rich or poor.
