Labrador (Harry)

His eagerness is uncontainable,
as he romps joyfully through the leaved autumnal carpet.
The dappled light showers through the bare branches intensifying the
rouge and ochre kaleidoscope of colour.
The air is crisp and harsh and the water has been forbidden from
following its path downstream.
He stops to scent the air, his breath freezing in whirled plumes above
his head.
His eyes and ears detect movement far away and soon he is on the
chase!
He bullies his way through the ferns and the lure of the river sways
his prudent nature - he plunges deep into its depths.
He returns downstream laced with silvery beads,
tired from the chase which was in vain.
He rests for a while amongst a comforting pillow of moss,
His hazel eyes weary, his sides heaving with exertion.
Stillness surrounds him.
