'Look at him Jill,so dirty looking and Only one shoe' 'Stop it Julie, Mark, That's not nice, just
Leave him alone,' 'Sod off old man You don't belong round here' 'I wish you guys wouldn't do that, its not exactly our place either, it belongs to Mr Rafi' 'Yes Jill but while Mr Rafi away, we can play' ' ye thats right Mark, if he was stupid enough to leave his back gate unlocked why cant we hang out round back of his shop' 'I know, but I'm just saying, so why don't you let a poor homeless man hang here too, thats all', after all you two only come here to smoke a bit of weed, because your parents would kill you'.
'Your to soft Jill, anyway Come on, I'm starving, mar will have dinner on now, she wont mind if I bring you two' 'thanks Julie, but 'not for me Jul's I have to meet my younger brother from his football practice so check you all later'. 'more for us Mark hey'.
All though I knew it was Wrong I had been watching This poor lonely homeless Man for a while, as he Passed Mr Rafi's Italian Restaurant and down my street every night.I could see him picking up any scraps of food he could find, walking with his old wooden walking stick he probably picked up from the tip, like I watched him pick up a long black water proof coat off there last month, Mark would often go to the tip for some car parts, it's amazing what you can find these days in tips.
Old man Shoe, I hated calling him that, he thinking of him, with that name made me cringe, its not respectful I thought, to refer to a man who possible thought in the second world war for all us. and to see him round the back of Mr Rafi's for any left over food was regular but sad.
especially when it wasn't very good, but when your hungry and living on the streets anything will do, I learned that from old man shoe, he was nicknamed because he would only wear one shoe, that was a mystery just like his name.
I felt sorry for him and didn't like others in the neighborhood teasing him, like Mark and Julie, although I didn't say or do what they did to others and Old man shoe, I still hung around with them, because in a small town that you move to, thats what you do or your the one getting picked on. But things were about too change.
Such a hot humid day,
I felt like a swim, after
Walking such a long way.
But nothing for miles
Just a nature Reserve,
Which had such a beautiful
Lake, where aunt
Jesse and Uncle Jake
Use to take me when
I were young.
Although it was wrong
The heat was so
Hot, I just wanted to
Dip my feet.
Then next thing I knew
It was you, the old man
With only one shoe.
You grabbed my hair
With all your might
Not worrying about
What happed the
Previous night.
Without of a thought
For your own safety
You saved me from
The deep swirling
Pool.
Now I know it was
You watching I
All the time, and not
I watching you,
It's as if you knew
One day I Would need
Saving by You.
