Bus Pass [and BPL] Go Down to the Sea

Bus Pass was in double-oh-seventh heaven.  After missing big screen ogling at Sean Connery in a cutoff terry-towelling-onesie, BPL had gone all ‘Pussy Galore’, announcing,

“Bus Pass, our mission, is to catch the 273”.

The 273!  Bus Pass dreamed of catching the 273!  It was just a minibus, so no top deck, but La Grande Corniche in a James Bond car chase couldn’t rival 273s route for its cliffside hairpin bends down into Gardenstown. 

273 was the double-oh-seven route.

Bus Pass had been spending their bus-route snow days pondering the big issues of the Universe.  Like, how did the Hebridean Baker manage to bake and box thousands of second-best-biscuits in the world, and have time to sit about looking bonnie and affable in Waterstones?  BPL meanwhile, had been contemplating the wonders of the world.  Like, wireless headphones that whisper in your ear ‘Power low’ when they’re running out of charge.  Granted, it was in a tone of voice that made BPL suspect wireless headphones might be ‘on a spectrum’, but BPL loved them anyway.  Especially the way they folded up into themselves, on the diagonal, like Nigella cuts potatoes for roasting.

Suffice to say, Bus Pass and BPL were champing at the bit for a top decker.  (Bus Pass had come to the conclusion the Hebridean Baker was a powerful wizard.  It was the only explanation).  A 273 jaunt was just what they needed.  But BPL had always refused point-blank to catch the 273 before.  Bus Pass wondered what had changed BPLs mind?  Then Bus Pass saw, the 273 had had an upgrade, from boneshaking death-trap to a spanking new bells-and-whistles minibus, with seat belts, heating and comfy high-back chairs.  ‘Q’ had outdone himself this time.

BPL placed Bus Pass on the 273 ticket machine.
