Autumn Colours (i)
By Rhiannonw
- 1914 reads
Green sugar factories now dismantled with approaching cold
revealing other colours in the leaves – orange and gold,
and red forms sometimes with the season's termination,
the summer’s beauty closing in resplendent culmination.
Leaves’ substance stored away within the trunks or underground,
to help kick-start the growth so cover will once more abound
when warmth returns – fruit growing business safely can resume
as leafy factories green again, abundant flowers bloom.

Hi Rhiannon,
Hi Rhiannon,
I could just imagine all the hard work that goes into Nature's life of a tree. No wonder it needs a Winter's rest. You told this story so well within a great poem for the I P.
Jenny.

Hi Rhiannon
Hi Rhiannon
Beautiful tree, and beautiful poem to go with it. I like the thought of the trees and their leaves as sugar factories.
