Escape – in a basket!

[Continuing the hymn-for-Sundays series]

Saul, not believing Jesus could
be who God had predicted would
come as their King, forgot that first,
to save, He’d let men do their worst.

But Jesus showed him truly He
had lived as Scripture said would be
for God’s Messiah sent to teach
and needy Jews and Gentiles reach.

Saul knew the scripture texts so well
and very soon able to tell
how truly Jesus was the Son
of God – appointed work begun!

They heard that some sought Saul to kill
but first he must God’s work fulfil:
friends hid him in a basket – down        
out through the wall around the town!

Sounds very interesting I will look up the story again! But you did give the verses? Ok! I see! Paul, as still being "Saul". Made one think of the baby Moses too!

Thank you, Nolan. The picture is more like the basket that Moses was placed in rather than Saul escaped in probably! Saul became called Paul when he started ministering to gentiles - on  Cyprus, I think. Rhiannon
