The Great Wren Escape
By Rhiannonw

A little round nest
full of nearly ready fledglings,
hidden in a bank of leaves.
Giant Jay with hungry young
landing, looking,
beady eye observing;
sharp beak breaking in the back
ready for attack,
grabs a poor fledgling, – but
the entrance isn’t shut
so POP!, out through the front door
erupt 1,2,3,4 –
down, down, safe together, on a twig
sheltered, fed ’til ready,
and quite big
enough, to feed and fly
away, to fight another day.

Hi Rhiannon
Hi Rhiannon
I was worried about those little birds, but you took care of them. Nice one.

Hi Rhiannon,
Hi Rhiannon,
Your description of the escape of the fledglings was a reminder of how nature create a real drama. So glad the little ones got free in the end...a happy ending is always nice.

Hi again Rhiannon,
Hi again Rhiannon,
That's great news that you are out and about walking again. I'm so sorry to hear of health issues, hope all is well now, and I look forward to reading about some more of your country walks.
Best wishes and good health to you and yours.
Jenny.
