Relationship

“Immanuel” means “God with us”
– to you is he a stranger?
He wants a real relationship,
so came, lay in a manger.
But Herod feared another King
and wanted to destroy him.
The wise men worshipped, gave him gifts,
see shepherds poor rejoicing.
The angel told good news for all
of joy so great, God’s pleasure,
and peace for those who will receive
this Lord, this Christ, this Saviour.
He came to take shame we deserved,
and die for our salvation;
if you're not deeply stirred by this,
then pray for comprehension.
“They will call him Immanuel” which means , “God with us”. Matthew 1:23.
Tune: 87 87 iambic eg Dominus Regit Me (tune of ‘The King of love my shepherd is’)

immanuel
I find your words just a bit clumsy as if you are not sure how you can say what you feel. The word Immanuel quoted by Matthew in the Bible came from the prophet Isaiah and, with those wonderful promises of the Messiah and of the Promised land Isaiah is a beautiful book. With Matthew “God with us”, Isaiah 7:14 can be interpreted in different ways but in the context it is Jesus himself, in the flesh.
And just think of it a night of murder terror slaughter and bloodshed where each baby son born killed brutally, to Jesus it did not come he slept sweetly it was God Himself who guarded over him he was safe as the Bank Of England.
Have a great week Rhiannon! Nolan &

makes sense
It makes sense yes, thanks! I was wondering about the silent night doesn't fit in hey? I find it still a bit confusing. Sometimes God does his own work.
