‘What does it say inside?
What is that letter?’
“Uh for Deidi!*”
‘Where have you been this morning?
Somewhere special?’
‘“mumble mumble mumble  bim*”
‘What’s in this present?’
“I don know”
‘Is it a frog?’
“No!”
‘is it a sheep?’
“No! not a beep!*
It's a tiger!”

small children can sometimes make some very unfortunate mistakes when they get their consonants wrong can't they!

She tries to say so much, and you catch some 'near' words to guess something of the 'paragraph' she is trying to say. But she seems to realise now that it's not our fault!.But if she says that her Mum's gone to the 'bops'. and I say 'Say Shh! She says 'Shh!' fine, then I say, 'Say Sh-op' and she says 'Shh- bop!' But she knows it's wrong and is amused. It will come soon, probably! Rhiannon

The way you describe her she seems very determined :0) Sure if she persists you will come round to her way of speaking!

! that was certainly so awhile ago. If I used to say 'I don't know what you mean' , thinking she would try another way, she'd say 'mean - ' and just repeat what she hd just gabbled, I think! But I think she's beginning to see we really can't follow and to allow herself to be teased about it. New words seem to come better. Going to nursery in September will probably improve it! Rhiannon
