Accusations made, unchecked
that they really are correct,
may soon cause you vain regret,
for you cannot intercept
all the courses they have followed,
by the winds of gossip billowed.

Thanks, Jean. I always remember a children's book where the lass who had spread lies was put to trying to pluck a chicken in the garden without losing any feathers (on a windy day I think!). She then had the point made to her of the damage done by her spreading such whispers, not so easy to take back or put right. Rhiannon
