At Danny’s Place

 

Tumbling dice follow

an inertia of flicking wrist

adding conversation to its limit.

My numbers override yours

as family-contestants scramble

to record their tallies laying

 across our table top. Thanksgiving

get-together means food, hugs

and telling each other how much

they’re missed, after all these years.

Meanwhile our game of 20,000

fits in nicely among the chip & dip.

Thank you for your kind words, R. A great family game. Good for 2 to six players. EqUIPMENT NEEDED: 10 DICE. Each tosses one dice, and highest begins the game. 2nd one is on the left and rest follow suit for their turn. Object is for winner to get 20,000 points first. Takes about 45 min to an hour to complee. A short game can be ten thousand points. EACH person throws 10 dice on their turn and must get 1,000 points to get into the game. 1st part of the lesson, ha.

Lesson TWO for game of 20,000 or 10,000: When you throw your ten dice pick out your points -- 3 sixes equal six hundred points -- 4 sixes equal 1,200 --   five sixes equal 2,400 and keep on doubling. Similar sequences are as -- 3 twos equal 200 --- 4 twos equal 400 -- five twos equal 800 and keeps doubling for all numbers. My wife is going to try and write it down. I did not realize how hard it is to explain, you have to play.

Thank you, Richard. I've copied the 2 lessons on to my laptop now, so can reference and show my husband. These things are always easier to play, and you pick up then easily - and I guess each group sometimes tweakes the rules if it suits! Rhiannon
