I return

to this site –

where fish bite

lovers quake

and your kindness is just right.

 

In the twilight

sun evaporates into the night

stars appear so bright –

goodness and evil begin the fight  

 

to change me. Through years

of strife

life flavoured me

and it was the way it was.

Yay!!!  Pick of the day.  And so deserved for this absolute beauty.  I loved it when I first read it and I am delighted that it has gone a big step further than just an 'ordinary' cherry.  A great way to start your writing in the new year.  I'm delighted for you Richard.

Yes, I completely agree Parsons.  This is one of the best pieces (if not the best) of Richard's that I have read too.  Fabulous poem.

Hello and well done on the golden cherries. There is a lovely restfulness to this, like the stillness of dusk. I especially liked when it rolled over between second stanza and third and the last lines. I don't know how to keep tags on authors I like either! Guess we just have to keep on our toes.

Thank you too, Jeand. Lately I have felt a freedom of expression that bursts from me, and honestly it does surprise me, because with the written word what more is there to say that is not already said? A quotation I read many years ago (author/ess stated---"There is nothing new under the sun, except discovering a new way to say the same thing). But, oh the joy in being part of the plan, eh?.
